TOMATO FUTURES - A community showcase celebrating tomatoes, land, belonging, and regenerative futures

The community festival invited visitors to celebrate biodiversity, cultural memory, and resilience through the lens of the humble tomato. Native to South America and now a cornerstone of kitchens worldwide, the tomato became a living symbol of migration, adaptation, and care.

Blending food, culture, and ecological wisdom, the gathering encouraged reflection on: the global journeys of ingredients, the stories embedded in everyday meals, and the connections between land, heritage, and community.

Participants shaped visual recipes through drawings, collages, and personal notes, weaving a collective archive that honoured tomatoes as art, memory, and living history.

Curated by Where the Rivers Meet, Seed Sovereignty Programme, Black Rootz, and Wolves Lane with the participation of p_l_an_t, the festival nurtured intergenerational exchange and inspired participants to see a simple fruit as a bridge between cultures and ecosystems.
